The challenge – improve battery performance

With many super power instruments, the maximum power output (MPO) fades quickly. The problem is particularly prevalent with zinc air batteries, where an initially high output quickly fades away as the battery ages. Users of such instruments often experience them as being too weak, long before the battery is actually used up.

Consistently high gain and MPO

SUMO uses a unique Battery Management System to dramatically improve output power consistency. This system constantly monitors the output voltage of the battery. When this falls below the prescribed level, the Battery Management System slightly reduces the current drain on the battery, allowing it to recover. The result is a more consistent output power over the lifetime of the battery, plus longer battery life.

SUMO’s battery current consumption is significantly lower than other standard Super Power instruments, prolonging effective battery lifetime.

The following diagram shows that at levels just slightly lower than the maximum, SUMO's battery life is further increased 30 – 50%.

SUMO works with normal 675 batteries

An added economic benefit is that SUMO’s Battery Management System works with normal 675 zinc air batteries. For optimal performance, though, we recommend using hearing aid batteries designed for power instruments.
